What looks like an extra charge on a ride is likely a temporary authorization hold, with “Lime Temp Hold” as the bank descriptor on your bill:
Authorization holds on your card may be issued when you start a ride. When you began your ride with a debit or credit card, we may withhold a small amount from the available credit on your account. This is called an authorization hold, which means you cannot use this amount of funds from your account, but the funds have not yet been transferred to Lime. This hold ensures the funds will be available on your account when ride is complete, at which time your account is actually charged.
These temporary holds allow us to protect against fraud from unauthorized card usage and are never actually charged to your account if the post-ride transaction is successful. We release the temporary hold after its associated ride is charged.
While this temporary hold is immediately voided by Lime, the charge might linger on your account for a few weeks, depending on your bank's policies. For specific information about your account, please contact your card-issuing bank for its policy regarding authorization holds.
If the temporary hold is not the reason for an unknown charge, please submit a request to our customer support team and they can assist you further.
