Fine Policy
Lime reserves the right to suspend you from riding Lime mopeds or assess fines pursuant to our Fines Policy. Suspensions may be temporary or permanent. These may come into effect if it comes to our attention that you do any of the following:
Riding without a helmet
You must wear a helmet while riding Lime mopeds. If you and/or your passenger ride Lime mopeds without helmets, you will receive a warning on the first offense. You will be permanently suspended from riding Lime mopeds on the second offense.
Sharing accounts
If you allow anyone else to operate a Lime moped using your account, you will be permanently suspended from riding Lime mopeds on the first offense. Additionally you may receive an imposed fine based on local regulations.
Riding with passengers under 18
If you carry a passenger who is under 18 years old while riding Lime mopeds, you will be permanently suspended from riding Lime mopeds on the first offense.
Running red lights and stop signs
If you run red lights or stop signs while riding Lime mopeds, you will be temporarily suspended (7 days) on the first offense. You will be permanently suspended from riding Lime mopeds on the second offense.
Riding on a sidewalk or footpath
If you ride Lime mopeds on a sidewalk or any foot paths, you will be permanently suspended from riding Lime mopeds on the first offense. Additionally, you may receive an imposed fine based on local regulations.
Riding in a bike lane
If you ride Lime mopeds in a bike lane, you will be temporarily suspended (7 days) on the first offense. You will be permanently suspended from riding Lime mopeds on the second offense. Additionally, you may receive an imposed fine based on local regulations.
Riding on a major bridge or tunnel
If you ride Lime mopeds on a major bridge or tunnel, you will receive a warning on the first offense. You will be temporarily suspended (7 days) on the second offense. On the third offense, you will be permanently suspended from riding Lime mopeds. Additionally, you may receive an imposed fine based on local regulations.
Riding on a highway or roads with speed limits over 40 mph
If you ride Lime mopeds on a highway or roads with speed limits over 40 mph, you will be permanently suspended from riding Lime mopeds on the first offense. Additionally you may receive an imposed fine based on local regulations.
Riding in a park or greenspace
If you ride Lime mopeds in a park or greenspace, you will be permanently suspended from riding Lime mopeds on the first offense.
Riding wrong way on a one-way street
If you ride Lime mopeds the wrong way on a one-way street, you will receive a warning on the first offense. You will be temporarily suspended (7 days) on the second offense. On the third offense, you will be permanently suspended from riding Lime mopeds.
Reckless driving
If you ride Lime mopeds in a reckless manner (e.g., racing), you will be permanently suspended from riding Lime mopeds on the first offense.
Failure to report an accident or damage to products
You must report any accident, crash, damage, personal injury, or a stolen or lost Product to us as soon as possible. If an accident involves personal injury, property damage or a stolen Product, you must file a report with the local police department within 24 hours. If you fail to report, you will be permanently suspended from the Lime platform.
Providing false information
If you provide false information (e.g., a fake driver’s license, someone else’s driver’s license), you will be permanently suspended from the Lime platform.
Riding with a suspended, revoked, cancelled or expired driver’s license.
If you ride Lime mopeds with a suspended, revoked, cancelled, or expired driver’s license, you will be permanently suspended from the Lime platform.
Receiving a traffic violation
If you receive a traffic or parking ticket during a Lime trip, you will have to pay up to the full amount of the traffic violation.
Ending a ride outside of the allowed zone / in an inaccessible zone
If you end a Lime trip outside of the allowed zone or leave the vehicle in an inaccessible zone, you will be fined based on local regulations.
Total loss of e-scooter
If you or your account is responsible for the theft or total loss of one of Lime’s vehicles, you will be charged with the full amount of the vehicle.
Damage fee (vehicle, battery, helmet)
If you or your account is responsible for the damage of Lime’s property (including the helmet, battery or the vehicle itself) you will get charged for the repair cost of the damaged part(s).
Vehicle towing
If you or your account is responsible for leaving a vehicle in a zone where towing is required, you will get charged for the full amount of the cost of the vehicle towing.
Abandoning an active trip
If you or your account is responsible for abandoning an active trip (leaving the trip as active), you will get fined based on the local regulations.
Need for moving a vehicle to an active zone
If you or your account is responsible for ending a trip in a zone where Lime is not active, and thus needs to be moved to an active Lime zone, you will get fined for the moving of the vehicle based on the local regulations.
3rd party additional cost
If you or your account is responsible for damage to Lime property and a 3rd party needs to be used to repair the damage, you will get charged for the full amount of the 3rd party cost.
